How can you get your birth certificate translated into English for U.S. Immigration?
“Birth certificate” term is commonly used in the United States. In many other countries, it has different names: certificate of Baptism, family register, home registry, national identification card and similar names
Some of our clients ask whether certificates with different names will be accepted by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as birth certificate. The USCIS wants to have your identification information such as when and where you were born, your parental information, shortly your civil registration information and data.
What is translated in your birth certificate?
Everything! Certified translation of your birth certificate is word-for word translation. That is, whatever you have in your birth certificate must be translated as-is even if it contains incorrect information or wrong spelling of name. In other words, we, as a professional translation agency, are not allowed to correct information or data based on another document or your statement.
What does “certified translation” mean?
In simple terms, we certify that:
- the attached translation is “accurate” and
- our translator is “competent”
So, accurate English translation means that we translate all words and data in your birth certificate without adding, deleting, or modifying any information or data. And, the translator who will translate your documents must be competent.
